Unique Quilting Project Showcases Creativity
For nearly five years, Mary Shellow has been a key member of our team of Direct Support Professionals for Chimes Delaware. From an early age, Mary has been an avid crafter and she loves to share her lifelong passion with program participants at Chimes Delaware’s center in Newark.
From making various crafts to creating artwork with various mediums, Mary plays a big role in keeping the day program interesting and exciting for those we serve.
Earlier this year, the concept creating a quilt was suggested to the team by the Chimes Delaware Nursing Department. Mary was thrilled with the idea and the team set to work cutting up patches and allowing program participants to contribute to the project and express themselves by drawing and painting on their squares. Mary worked with some of the program participants to stitch the squares together and Mary handled sewing the difficult seams and backing of the quilt to finish the project.
The quilt now hangs in a place of honor in the entrance way vestibule in Chimes Delaware’s Newark center. Thank you Mary and the Chimes Delaware team for sharing this amazing project with us! We can’t wait to see what you create next!
