Looking Back, Forging Ahead

What 2023 Holds for Chimes

As one remarkable year comes to a close and a new one begins, Chimes would like to thank wonderful supporters like you for all you do to help those we serve to reach their fullest potential.

Certainly, 2022 brought important accomplishments for our organization—including our 75th Anniversary—and 2023 is already off to a great start, with amazing things happening at Chimes every single day.

Last year our day programs throughout the region continued to gain momentum, with expanded enrollment and new programming to serve people with developmental disabilities. Experienced staff and flexible activities provide a Chimes experience that is responsive to the needs and preferences of each individual. Case in point: the new and reimagined Liberty Club East, which reopened as part of Chimes Maryland in 2022 and continues to evolve and thrive.

Meanwhile, over at Chimes DC, we launched a new internship program to help high school students in special education programs explore the world of work. Needless to say, our efforts to break down barriers to independent employment are launching thousands of people with disabilities and other challenges into the workforce, from BWI Airport to Staples, Wawa and more.

And last but not least, the Chimes School had a banner year. Spearheaded by new leadership and a reinvigorated staff, the Chimes School has a plan to increase enrollment and further enhance its cutting-edge, multisensory curriculum for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and emotional and behavioral challenges.

Of course, none of these crucial developments in our mission to serve the most vulnerable members of our society would be possible without your generosity and support. Stay tuned for news of our continued success throughout the year!
