New Outdoor Adaptive Therapeutic Center Opens at Chimes School!
On July 17, numerous Maryland State Legislators, disability advocates, Chimes staff members and most importantly The Chimes School students celebrated the official opening of a brand new, state-of-the-art fully accessible playground in northern Baltimore City. The new Outdoor Adaptive Therapeutic Center (OATC) is a vibrant, welcoming space for The Chimes School students and other community groups as well.
Every inch of the playground was thoughtfully designed and constructed so that youth of all abilities can engage, explore, and play together without barriers.
As Chimes moves onto the second phase of the project, The OATC playground will serve as a model for similar play spaces for young people with disabilities across Maryland and across the country!
Chimes extends our heartfelt thanks to Senator Craig Zucker, Delegate Malcolm Ruff, Delegate Sandy Rosenberg, and Delegate Sean Stinnett for their participation and thoughtful remarks, as well as to Kirsten Bosak from the Maryland Department of Disabilities, and muralist Christina de Guzman Jones.
